The birth chart calculator is a tool for anyone who desires to know themselves more deeply. It is for people who wish to lead, learn, act, think, and reflect on the deepest parts of themselves. A tool to guide the energies and personalities of human beings and their interactions. It is for anyone who wishes to live in stronger alignment with who they truly feel they are and to gain a sense of fulfillment in their personal, professional, and intimate relationships.

The birth chart shows us the Universal energies that were at play the moment you came into this world. A unique cosmic signature. It is a key to understanding yourself in a way that will illuminate your strengths and desires in all settings, whether it is in a career, a relationship, or a personal quest to feel more fulfilled and complete. We are all out here searching for the things that fill us up, make us feel heard, and light up THE WHOLE WORLD. It is important work we are doing when we make the commitment to tuning ourselves to the Universal energies that move through all of us.

Key Components of your Birth Chart ~

The sun, moon, and ascendant (rising) of your birth chart all have a specific zodiac sign. Each zodiac sign is associated with a planetary ruler, an elemental property (water, earth, wind, fire), and a fundamental property (cardinal, fixed, mutable). Based on these planetary points and combinations, your chart will reveal how these energies can transform and express themselves throughout your life.

Moon / Sun Sign

If you know your horoscope, then you know your sun sign. It is the one that represents the core of who you are. It also represents your “role,” identity, and ways we are likely to act. If you tend to be rebellious, and anti… anything, it is likely you are an Aquarius, Libra, Virgo, or Taurus. There will be overlaps in personality traits. After all, we’re human and are meant to relate to each other.

Another important component of your birth chart (aka where the planets were placed when you were born) is your moon sign. As every planet in the sky influences and illuminates different energies, the moon tells the story of our emotional nature. Let’s think about it, how often did you turn to just look at the moon when you were feeling moody late at night, or more receptive to your emotions when the sun goes down? The moon influenced and created the parts of ourselves that lie deep within us and reveal themselves when we’re alone or feel safe enough. It is the guide to our inner world and how we nurture ourselves. Tuning into this part of your chart could reveal a lot of hidden desires you may be holding back on.

Ascendent (Rising Sun) Sign

The ascendant sign relates to the sign that was rising to the eastern horizon when you were born. It is not a planet but it is still part of a natal chart and gives influence to your cosmic signature. This sign rules what you project to the world, the mask you wear to the world, our first impressions and how we come across to others. It also changes an average of two hours (based on location to equator) so knowing the exact time of your birth is important.

This sign rules your 1st house and sets the tone of your chart. The zodiac signs have a “fixed” order so based on the sign of your first house (the ascendent sign), everything follows that in the cosmic realm.

Planets & Energies + Houses = Alignment to take Action

Each planet has a certain energy that guides the ways we move in the world. We will dive more into each planet so you understand the influence the planets and signs have on things such as your love life, professional path, struggles and insecurities, etc.

There are also 12 different “houses” the planets were also influenced by. The houses are dependent on the location and date of your birth. Each house is ruled by a zodiac sign (Cancer, Libra, Leo, etc). The first 6 houses relate to topics of “self” and the last 6 houses relate to how you connect to the world around you, the “interpersonal houses.”

When a planet falls in a certain house, it means the attributes/energies of the planet will have influence over specific events that relate to the topics of the houses. Our lives and the smaller moments in them will have relation to where the planets and houses aligned with each other when you were born. In a way, it is a predictive tool to see which parts of your life will come into focus and how to take the best possible action.

The Elemental Rush

We are made up of the particles of this earth and mostly water so it makes sense why we are moving to the rhythm of the planets that surround us. Giant balls of magnetism, destruction, gravity, movement, water, dense metals, ice and different frequencies — we are like the small particles that have fallen and gathered to make up a new realm of being. With that in mind, there are four different elements that the 12 Zodiac signs fall into. Knowing what elements your Sun sign, as well as certain planets in your chart, falls into will help understand your nature.

EARTH – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Grounded, patient, loyal, love for material things & finer things in life, sensual, warming, stubborn and inflexible, hard-working, steady and balanced.

WATER – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Emotionally intelligent, sensitive, intuitive, artists, highly imaginative, feel everything, loyal and compassionate.

FIRE – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Passion, bold, creative, leaders, charming, confident, intense, can act impulsively and make quick temper, fiery energy, lion/lioness.

AIR – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Communicators, sharp and witty, rational, intellects, social skills, revolutionary thinkers, quick decisions, calm, curious, and freedom seekers.

Knowing the elemental distribution of your chart (aka planets) will help you understand where your strengths lie and which parts of your tendencies you may consciously need to develop. If there are imbalances in your natal chart/elemental distribution, it just means you will need to create those habits and focus more intentionally on developing different characteristics.

As planets continue to spin and we continue to age and move through our daily life and work, it begs the question how a giant blueprint the day we were born still plays a role in our life. What is most important to understand is the subtleties these planetary energies weave throughout your personality, nature, tendencies, interests and purpose.

THE FIXED SIGN ~ Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable

The three modalities in astrology (also known as quadruplicities, as there are four zodiac signs in each group) represent the unique ways each group of signs expresses their energy, reacts to circumstances, and operates in the world as they move through life. “The modalities are another way to break down signs and elements,” astrologer Lisa Stardust, tells Bustle. “They represent the sign and element’s ability to move and evolve with time.”

Using These Tools to Improve Your Life ~

When we understand the deeper/deepest parts of ourselves and our subtle energies, we are more likely to act and think in ways that best suit our higher knowing. When we are able to gather reliable and accurate knowledge of what cosmic energies were at play when we came into our human experience, we are able to have a greater understanding of the events that take place in our lives and find more peace in the knowledge that everything does happen for a reason. Whether it is professionally, in intimate relationships, or plainly looking to form new connections in your life – the tools of your natal chart will help you navigate your life in a way that seeks balance, meaning, and true desire.

Searching for a Sacred Connection and Meaning ~

We all have parts of ourselves that want to be heard, want to know we matter, and that we have a purpose in this life (thanks, Moon). If this isn’t something that resonates with you, that’s okay too. Above anything, it is important to follow the best route for our personal peace and liberty. Understanding the different components of your natal chart is just another facet of gaining a greater understanding of yourself. If that is a part of your journey, we invite you to explore the deeper parts of yourself.

How to Navigate your Birth Chart ~

Simple. Gather the time, location, and date of your birth. If it is hard to find your time of birth, it is best to estimate or get closest to noon.
